Foundation

Introduction

The Art of Living Foundation seeks to build a global society that is free of stress, violence, and misery - and full of service, wisdom, and celebration. The Foundation engages in a wide array of educational and humanitarian programmes that uplift individuals, make a difference in local communities and foster global change.

The Foundation offers practical courses that help uncover the strength, peace, and joy that lie at the core of every human being thereby eliminating stress, creating a sense of belongingness, restoring human values and encouraging people from all religions and cultural traditions to come together in celebration and service.

The Art of Living Foundation was inspired in 1982 by the spiritual leader and humanitarian, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. In 1996, the Foundation was accredited at the United Nations as an International Non-Governmental Organisation. The Foundation works in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, participating in a variety of committees and activities relating to health, education, sustainable development and conflict resolution. As such, it takes part in conferences of the United Nations and has an official consultative status to the World Health Organisation especially for a global policy of health in the 21st century.

The Art of Living Foundation’s programmes and volunteers have demonstrated that both regional and personal transformation can happen rapidly and be sustained. So far, the Foundation’s service projects, trauma relief, and stress-reduction and self-development programs have benefited more than 25 million people on six continents, in more than 150 countries around the world.

 

Peace Initiatives

Sri Sri's Unique approach of facilitating outer peace through individual empowerment has effected long-lasting change in conflict hotspots across the world. This approach, combined with self development programs, the principle of non-violence, dialogue and rehabilitation programs, has helped every section of society, from militants and estranged youth to victims and security forces, transforming hate, bitterness and violence into joy.

H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has founded several global organisations to provide humanitarian and educational services to all sections of society.

The Art of Living Foundation

The Art of Living Foundation, through its many innovative programs, brings these values to our society by strengthening the individual. The Foundation offers programmes that eliminate stress, create a sense of belonging, restore human values, culture individual development, and encourage people from all backgrounds, religions, and cultural traditions to come together in celebration and service. The Art of Living Foundation is a nonprofit educational and humanitarian organisation, offering programmes in more than 140 countries around the world.

As a UN-accredited Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs), the Art of Living Foundation works in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, participating in a variety of committees and activities relating to health, education, sustainable development, and conflict resolution.

The International Association for Human Values

Sri Sri founded the International Association for Human Values in Geneva , Switzerland, in 1997, to foster a deeper understanding of the values that unite us as a human community. IAHV develops and promotes programmes of personal development and community education that nurture greater awareness of the shared values among the world's diverse cultures and traditions. IAHV works in collaboration with partners dedicated to similar goals, including governments, educational institutions, other NGOs, corporations, and individuals.

Ved Vignan Maha Vidya Peth

Ved Vignan Mahavidyapeeth is a charitable, educational, and research organisation established in 1981. One of the main objectives of the trust has been to aid rural development by means of education - both formal and vocational. Education at Ved Vignan Mahavidyapeeth is a blend of literacy and human skills, contributing to the growth of a well-rounded individual capable of contributing positively to society.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir

The Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir Trust is a charitable, spiritual, and educational public institution involved in the advancement of knowledge and vocational guidance in various fields of human endeavor. The SSRVM Trust provides educational and health-related services to society by promoting, operating, and managing educational institutions all over India. SSRVM currently runs more than 50 schools in India.

Sri Sri Rural Development Trust

Sri Sri Rural Development Trust was founded in 2001 to empower rural women and youth. Since then the trust has been running several programs that impart training in vocational skills, entrepreneurship and personality development. The trust has empowered thousands of rural women from impoverished families by providing not only economic support through income generation projects but also boosting their self esteem.
